I'd say try out the defender weapons.
Mhw guardian armor reddit As stated in other replies, the guardian armor is too powerful and you will have little challenge fighting monsters, which translates into you not learning to hunt them properly and not learning the basics of skills and crafting, which will eventually be a problem when the guardian set stops being useful and monsters kick your ass. The truth is LR armor and most HR armor sets are pretty negligible even more now that we have the Guardian set. It’s chock full of defensive skills and has such a jacked up defense stat that makes it borderline impossible to die in low rank and high rank, but it doesn’t have a single offensive skill to its name so besides not dying, it’s not actually helping you Yo guys. Now I told him that here the game loop begins now he can craft pieces of the armor of the monster he fought. Now my question. I don't like Defender weapons being strictly 1-2 tiers higher than their counterparts in raw damage at least. You still get a set even if you picked the guardian armor. It's going to be hard to get used to taking damage since the guardian armor is meant for high rank but you got this fam Once you get past low rank, which isn't terribly difficult to begin with, let's be honest, Guardian armor isn't doing anything for you that you can't do with non-Guardian armor, and is arguably straight inferior to four pieces of Rathian Alpha and Kadachi Alpha gloves, which is identical to Guardian armor except that it swaps Divine Blessing 3 I'm relatively new to the game. Guardian and Defender armor have the same stats and skills. Should i upgrade my guardian armor with armor spheres? I honestly don't mind Defender (I assume that's the Guardian armor everyone keeps saying is a crutch) armour. It's like having a second health bar, if you get hit while using it your HP won't be damaged; instead this "second health bar" will get damaged. I just beat Nergigante, so im somewhat close to iceborne i think. HR armor doesn’t come remotely close to surpassing it until elder dragon sets can be farmed, if you upgrade with armor spheres the cheat armor remains a cheat up to MR. If you haven't done the 9-star story mission, Land of Convergence, your hunter rank won't increase. The guardian armor is meant as a way for new players to pretty much steamroll through the base game and go straight to master rank in Iceborne. As soon as you get into Iceborne, start looking for rarity 9 weapons and armor. As i have played through whole MHW on the past im just running though it with guardian and defender gear right now so i can enjoy iceborne on a new save for the first time. I think those who say the armor builds bad habits are absolutely right. (If there's one for low rank too, that'd be great because I want to play properly without that cheaty guardian armor! I'm found some that cover IB but gloss over base World. The Guardian/Defender gear is designed to make the base game significantly easier. I wouldn’t say cheating, but I wouldn’t recommend using it for multiple reasons The armorset is, from a meta standpoint, terrible. Worse still, players who used guardian armor to facetank their way to Iceborne have spent all that time actively learning bad habits. Progression wise, you are pretty much at the point that the power of the Guardian armor reaches parity with the other armor sets available. Not the guardian weapons though, I sticked with them until Zorah Magdoras. Don't say it was fine. Are you saying you didn't miss out on any skill learning I listed above. Doin all the side quests etc for parts pieces and Little Blue thingies needed to create and update armor made from current critters is way more fun than just walking through the door with an A1 Abrams tank and calliGet yer butt kicked, figure out the moves, farm When I started the game, the guardian armor felt like a cheatcode ngl, it is basically so strong for the low ranks, and definitely usable until end of iceborne. I didn't join the reddit till I hit high rank. If rushing through is what you want then go for it. I’m doing a new run on a new toon and the HR Odogaron set I’m still using at MR3 currently pales in comparison to the cheat (Guardian) armor when fully upgraded. Still doesnt change the game that much for me, since LR is easy and I had always dodged properly. I looked at that armor and decided to leave it be for now. Yeah that sounds about right, the guardian armor makes the difficulty curve, learning mechanics and actually exploring for resources entirely useless because you can just grab the big free armor and jump into G rank We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. Also, I’ve noticed I have zero struggles going solo and I know this isn’t how easy it’s meant to be. You used the guardian/defender gear. The guardian set can be upgraded like any other HR armor, all the way up to 70 defense per piece; is gonna be in the 80s with augmentation. Once you get to MR, then that's when you'll be able to get the real armor. It made everything a cakewalk and pointless. I was able to chase down and kill Anja the first time we come across him and I was fighting SUPER sloppy, still knocking the rust off. With that being said, I make a character and have this guardian armor, which seemed great stat wise, but it is sooooo ugly. We fought the first Monsters and got some stuff. The weapon is a different story and is the most powerful option until around 1/4 of the way through Iceborne. Even if your build isn’t great, rarity 9 armor is hundreds of armor higher than rarity 8. Then a month back i bought the master edition on ps4 and played it with guardian armor. I say use whatever you want. There may be details I can't even think about that one who used guardian/defender gear may have missed out. . Really ruined the fun. You then shouldn't spawn with the armor and as long as you don't buy it in the shop it should never be in your chest. We started creating new characters and got the new starting guardian armor. So bought MHW and Iceborne a couple weeks ago, and been using the Guardian set since the start. ) Thanks for any help, you beautiful people you. If you like the challenge it gives you, keep it No one is going to kick you for wearing certain armor (at least the I noticed). If you find the game to easy using the gear, swap. Obviously the armor was way more worse than the starting armor. If it really bothers you I think you can make a new character and explicitly pick the default, none, or Origin Armor (iirc you got this armor for pre-purchasing World when it released). Honestly I kinda like how ridiculously OP it is for new players, but how long is it supposed to last before I should switch out for something better? With guardian armor, you don't have to learn any of that. Did some quick research and changed armor immediately. Defender armor fosters terrible habits and allows a player to breeze through the base game with next to zero trouble and then drops them into a much harder version of the game while also making the training wheels obsolete. I've got a few hundred hours in MHW and I've personally found that skipping through the low rank stuff with the guardian armour is what you should probably do (unless it's your first playthrough). I did make some armor, but it was more of a mix set of armor, making use of skills that I would be needing, like attack boost for the earlier stages, so I could kill monsters more easily. It's your game and you play it how you want to. Then Banbaro shows up and punishes those habits by shoving a giant log where the sun don't shine. Obviously the armor set is not ideal for bow builds from the outset, and I was still able to take down Anja with ease. So in terms of actual armor, not really; there are endgame sets that will have higher defense, but the difference is not gonna be huge. The defender weapons do roughly the same damage as a rarity 9 weapon but they’ll get you through about the first 3 fights and any starting grind you’ll do. Basically don’t use the armor if you want to improve and gain the right habits to become skilled at the game Also started with Guardian, but I quickly realized something was wrong, game was too easy.
